Guys, if you’re concerned about the extra winter weight you’ve piled on recently, worry no more – apparently women love it.

It’s been discovered, two thirds of British women prefer men to carry a bit of extra weight.

The reason for this is a bit suspect as they like the extra weight because the men are ‘less likely to cheat’.

New research shows women enjoy sex with men around 20-25 pounds above their recommended weight because it decreases the chance of them being unfaithful.

Big Dude Clothing, a plus-sized clothing website, polled 2,398 British women aged 18 and over, all of whom were single.

Darrell Freeman, Founder and MD of the website, said:

In this age of society becoming overly obsessed with attempting to recreate the Instagram-perfect snapshots of self-obsessed fitness models and gym bunnies, it’s very telling that such a large proportion of women we’ve spoken to in this study feel as though they’re more suited to partners carrying a little excess weight.

Let’s be honest, it can’t be much fun trying to live with someone who counts calories, attempts to stick to a strict diet and fitness regime.

Those carrying a few extra pounds are more likely to take life – and themselves – less seriously and enjoy life much more!

When asked who they were more likely to feel sexually attracted to and form relationships with, just under two thirds (64 per cent) said they were more attracted to overweight men.

32 per cent took a preference for men with athletic bodies and only four per cent found underweight men the most appealing.

When women with greater sexual attraction to overweight males were asked to state what they believed to be the optimum weight and body type of a potential romantic partner, the most commonly given characteristic emerged ‘love handles to grab on to’ and men carrying ‘an extra 20-25 pounds’ of body weight to be the most desirable to them.

After this, participants were asked why they were more attracted to bigger men instead of those boasting a six pack.

The top answer was they were less likely to be unfaithful, with 44 per cent of respondents choosing this option.

The second most popular answer was, overweight men made women feel less self-conscious about their own body hang-ups.

24 per cent of the women thought men who spend too much time on their fitness aren’t interesting or fun, opting for the bigger guy, while 21 per cent thought fat guys were more likely to have a good sense of humour.

Lastly, 16 per cent of the women said they didn’t think they were good enough to date a man who was physically muscular.

All of a sudden, chunky is sexy, which is great news for guys who love pizza and beer and seemingly have better things to do than pump iron all day.

Yep, it’s a bit bunny boiler-esque, but at least it lets you off the hook for your beer belly.

After all, this is the era of the dad bod, with it shooting to peak physical attractiveness thanks to the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Vince Vaughn.
