Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) has hinted that he and Chance The Rapper will be working on new material together.
The two-time Golden Globe winner called up an L.A radio station to have a 20 minute conversation about the a-million-one projects that he’s got on his plate, including a possible collaboration album with the Chicago-born rapper.
Speaking on Big Boy’s Neighborhood on L.A.’s Real 92.3, he revealed:
We definitely met up. I don’t know if I’ll see him again now that he’s won a Grammy. We’ll see what happens.
We actually sat down in the studio and were talking for a little bit. We’re both busy but when he has, like, a moment, we’ve just been sitting down and just working together. I think it’s about catching a vibe.
The two are no strangers to working with each other, Chance The Rapper featured on Glover’s Royalty mixtape and The Worst Guys off his second album, Becuase The Internet. He returned the favour on Chance’s incredible Acid Rap mixtape, with Favourite Song.
Getting them in the studio may prove to be a hard task, Glover’s going to be promoting Marvel Studios Spider-Man: Homecoming in the run up to its July release.
He’ll also be busy filming the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars film where he’ll be playing a young Lando Calrissian, so he’s going to be a pretty busy guy.
Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn into a Dr. Dre-á-la-Detox situation.
Both Chance and Glover have had a stellar start to 2017, Glover nabbed two golden globes this year for his comedy-drama series Atlanta, including one for Best Actor, Television Series Musical or Comedy.
As for Chi-town MC he picked up three awards at this year’s Grammys including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album with Colouring Book.
That’s pretty impressive considering the fact that Chance The Rapper is an independent artist who refuses to sign to a major record label and that Colouring Book was originally released as a mixtape.
