The first instalments of Stereosonic took place in Australia over the weekend. Thousands flocked to the event in Sydney and Perth.

Over 48,000 people were at Olympic Park in Sydney on Saturday to see their favourite doof doof artists.

Stats have started to come in over Sunday and Monday as to how many people went too hard on shitty drugs this year.

120 people have been treated for drug-related illnesses. 69 people were charged with drug supply and possession offences.

There has been one confirmed casualty. A woman, Sylvia Choi, has died after taking a lethal concoction of party drugs. That is genuinely and sincerely tragic.

None the less, most people continued to party like animals unaware of the death.

Photos from Stereosonic have started to flood online down under. No shirts and feathered headdresses is an unspoken entry requirement…

The festival will continue this weekend in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

In light of Sylvia Choi’s death the Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has said she is considering calls for drug-testing kits outside music festivals.

She has also urged fans attending Stereosonic to be responsible: “Go out and have a good time. But what we have seen is that there can be tragic consequences when drugs are involved.”

The Facebook page Stereosonic Exposed has been posting a steady flow of videos as well.
