Taken against a serene backdrop of an azure sea, the In My Feelings singer looked very gymmed indeed, with many fans rushing to praise his rock solid abs.
However, others were more dubious, suggesting – once again – that the 32-year-old’s toned physique wasn’t just down to a gruelling, pre-summer workout regime.
GettyThese raised eyebrows included those of his friend, record producer and DJ Carnage, who waded into the comments section to banter over the origins of Drake’s sculpted body, teasing, ‘You got fake ab surgery in Colombia you ain’t foolin anybody’.
The comment was liked over 27,000 times, and pretty soon the gloves were off along with Drake’s lost shirt.
Taking what appears to be a sly scalpel to Carnage’s love life, Drake retorted:
is this cause you are angry about the one thing that happened with that one person the other day that you thought was your wifey.
With Drake having clearly touched a raw nerve, Carnage hit back ‘DONT YOU DAREEEEE!!!!!’
champagnepapi/InstagramThe pair are reportedly good mates, so it doesn’t appear this exchange is too serious. However, such accusations have haunted Drake for years, and have been referenced in no fewer than two diss tracks.
It isn’t the first time the rapper has taken time out of his busy schedule jinxing athletes and sport teams to showcase his body.
In 2018 he shared a snap on his Instagram story to draw attention to his gut, or lack thereof as the case may be…
champagnepapi/InstagramSo perhaps rather than all being so bloody cynical we should accept that in Drake we find a performer who is dedicated to keeping himself in peak shape, because that’s what the fans deserve.
And lo, evidence, he takes pics with gym gear and everything!
Drake is only human, and he may have felt some pressure from other rappers giving him sh*t for his stomach.
In 2016, Joe Budden took the mickey out of the ‘new Aubrey with his stomach sculpted’ with his diss track Afraid, while in 2018, Pusha T ripped into Drake for his ‘surgical summer’. Ouch.
