Apologies to admirers everywhere, it seems Ed Sheeran is officially off the market.
The singer has hinted he’s already tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn, in a recent interview.
During an inquisitive interview with Access, Ed was asked:
What about the wedding details? Have you picked a date? Do you know where? Do you know when yet?
And while most of us might awkwardly crumble under the weight of such a barrage of personal questions, ever the professional Ed managed to keep his cool.
In fact, he didn’t really say much. He just laughed, shrugged and a pointed to his finger.
And what was on the finger? Only a silver wedding ring!
As the interviewer realises just what Ed is telling him, he congratulates him and and asks ‘How did you sneak that one?’
The singer replied:
Well, I never really do anything too public anyway…
So there you have it, it seems the Shape Of You singer has gone and got married without telling everyone about it. The cheek! My invitation probably just got lost in the post.
Ed and Cherry both attended Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk. As the Metro reports, they started dating in 2015 and have kept their relationship relatively private ever since.
Ed revealed his engagement to Cherry back in January this year, with an Instagram post that read:
Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx
Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran was sued for $100 million by a company who have alleged he ripped off a Marvin Gaye song.
Structured Asset Sales is the company filing the lawsuit which claims Ed’s song, Thinking Out Loud, is a plagiarism of Gaye’s Let’s Get it On.
Thinking Out Loud was well received upon its release, and back in 2016 the song earned Ed Grammy nominations for Best Record and Best Performance and received the award for Song of the Year.
A video of Sheeran performing Thinking Out Loud has been watched over 2.3 billion times on YouTube.
However, according to TMZ, Structured Asset Sales has alleged the song has the same identical melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bassline, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping as Let’s Get it On.
Let’s Get it On was penned by Gaye and Edward Townsend back in 1973. Gaye died in 1984 at the age of 44.
It proved to be one of Gaye’s most successful singles, and remains a favourite among music fans today.
Following Townsend’s death in 2003, Structured Asset Sales purchased one third of the iconic track’s copyright.
In 2016, Townsend’s family reportedly unsuccessfully attempted to sue Sheeran for implementing ‘elements’ of Townsend’s song. A federal judge reportedly dismissed the complaint.
However, it seems the company are persisting with their claims against Ed’s tune.
Sheeran co-wrote Thinking Out Loud with songwriter Amy Wadge, who wrote the song in a reported 20 minutes on a guitar which had been borrowed from Harry Styles.
Who’d have thought those 20 minutes could end up being so costly?
