It seems a lot of people can’t just take Glastonbury for what it is. Well, anything for what it is really. You’d never have thought Ed Sheeran of all people would be the subject of a conspiracy theory, but here we are.
Calling fake news on his closing headline set last night, viewers took to Twitter to lament the fact that when Sheeran stopped playing guitar, the sound of a guitar riff could be heard in the background.
Christ almighty. I’m no Sheeran evangelist but even I know the geezer uses a loop pedal on stage.
He eventually took to his own Twitter to address the smears.
He wrote:
Never thought I’d have to explain it, but everything I do in my live show is live, it’s a loop station, not a backing track. Please google x.
He plays a rhythm, records it, and loops it. And then he’ll loop stuff over that. You know all that looking down he did? That’s him working on his looping. Still, it would probably be much easier if he just employed a band.
It clearly irked Ed but he shrugged it off in the true spirit of Glastonbury by tweeting again…
Stay woke.
