If you’re looking for someone to save the day, and the Avengers aren’t available – because they’re fictional – who’s the next best thing? A rapper, of course!
That’s right, Eminem is here to save the day.
In a strange twist of fate which sees the rapper save the hero, Slim has tweeted Netflix to tell them to sort their shit out regarding the recent cancellation of The Punisher.
Along with Jessica Jones, The Punisher was the last remaining Marvel show on the streaming service, after Netflix culled Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist last year.
Netflix confirmed the move to Deadline this week, stating:
Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix. Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come.
In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones. We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others.
We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.
Now, however, Slim Shady is here to save the day. No doubt a diss track will appearing any minute.
The rapper blasted Netflix in a recent tweet, saying:
DEAR @NETFLIX,
REGARDING YOUR CANCELLATION OF THE PUNISHER, YOU ARE BLOWING IT!!
SINCERELY,
MARSHALL

Can Slim save the TV show? Netflix could be the subject of a scathing diss track if not, and we all know how much Eminem loves diss tracks.
Then again, as fans of the comic will know, Eminem may have been hoping to join the cast one day, seeing as he’s already appeared in print:
Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal, who plays the Punisher himself, paid tribute to the character on Instagram, saying:
To all who have served. All who know loss. All who love and understand Frank and his pain. It has been an honor to walk in his boots.
I’m endlessly grateful to the comic fans and the men and women of the Armed Services and law enforcement community who Frank means so much to.
Thank you to the USMC and all the wonderful soldiers who trained me. Go Hard. Be safe.
After Eminem’s recent tweet though, I wouldn’t say goodbye to the character just yet – who knows what influence the rapper will have on the streaming service!
