Fans are worried for Ariana Grande after she cancelled a recent concert due to health issues.
The singer was set to perform at The Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas this weekend (December 29), with many fans no doubt looking forward to attending the gig while getting ready to welcome in the new year.
Some resale tickets for the show, which was set to take place in The Chelsea – a 3,200 seat venue inside the hotel – were on the market for over $1000, but even the highest paying fans won’t get a glimpse of Grande, as the singer has pulled out of the performance.
TMZ broke the news on Friday (December 28), when sources connected to the 25-year-old explained she’d been sick all week and didn’t appear to be getting any better.
Grande reportedly has bronchitis, an inflammation in the lungs which causes coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath – none of which are ideal when having to sing and perform onstage.
Soon after the news broke, the singer took to her Instagram story to explain and apologise, writing:
Vegas, i’m currently working through some health issues and am beyond sorry i won’t be able to see u this weekend. i love u and so look forward to seeing u and making it up to u next year [sic].
TMZ report Grande is set to reschedule at a later date – which Grande pretty much confirmed on her Instagram post – saying she would ‘make it up to’ her fans.
Despite being ill the singer has maintained a strong online presence in the past week – sharing pictures and writing tweets – but fans are still concerned for the 25-year-old’s health after she cancelled the Vegas performance.
Many took to Twitter to offer well-wishes to the singer.
One fan wrote:
i really hope ariana’s okay and taking good care of herself [sic]
While another tweeted:
i hope ariana and her health is okay i’m worried i wish i could hug her [sic]
A third defended the singer against complaints for the cancellation, writing:
i can’t believe how many people (including celebs/influencers) are bashing ariana for cancelling a show. ONE show. [sic]
this woman works her ass of 25/8 and not once has she had a break. THE GIRL IS SICK W BRONCHITIS. her health is, & should be the ONLY priority right now. so gtfo. [sic]
According to Variety, Grande’s Vegas performance was set to be her first concert since she split from fiancé Pete Davidson and released the hit song Thank U, Next.
It was the only show the singer had scheduled before her next tour officially kicks off in New York in March 2019.
The Cosmopolitan hotel told ET:
Due to unforeseeable health reasons, Ariana Grande has cancelled her show at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 29. [sic]
Guests are able to receive a full refund on tickets through their specified point of purchase. A rescheduled date has not yet been determined at this time.
Hopefully she’ll get better soon and will make it up to the fans who missed out this weekend!
