The first images of Rami Malek as music icon Freddie Mercury have been unveiled, and the resemblance is absolutely perfect.
The Mr Robot star is playing the Queen frontman in an upcoming biopic that will be released next year, so we’re quite a way off seeing Rami grace the stage.
The photo was released yesterday to mark Freddie’s birthday, he would have been 71.

Freddie died in 1991 due to pneumonia, and was a music legend almost unparalleled in music history.
He is known for his incredible stage performances and his four octave vocal range.
Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody, after which the film is named, was named in Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Songs of All Time’ .
The film is fronted by Rami Malek, who is best known for his turn as Elliot in Mr Robot, a show about a group of hackers who turn into an anarchist anti-capitalist cyber hacktivist group.
Bohemian Rhapsody is being directed by Bryan Singer, director of Oscar-winning The Usual Suspects and majority of the X-Men series and, so there’s real pedigree attached to the project.
Rami said to EW of the first time he saw himself in costume:
When you’re able to open your eyes and see a different person staring back at you in the mirror, it’s a very affirming.
The film will chronicle the rise of Queen from formation in 1970 to their historic performance in 1985 at Live Aid.
In terms of how the film will recreate Freddie’s distinctive voice, Rami told EW that they are going to use a mix of Freddie and himself.
He said:
We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible.
I’m in Abbey Road right now if that should say anything to you. I’m not working on my acting.
Bryan Singer has said that the film will be less of a biopic and more of a documenting of a historic musical moment.
Bohemian Rhapsody is set to premier on December 25 2018.
