Music has been an important part of Game of Thrones world building, from the rousing title score to The National’s icy rendition of The Rains of Castamere.
And now – following in the footsteps of Black Panther – a new album has been unveiled which is inspired by the narrative of the epic fantasy series.
Entitled For The Throne , this album has been birthed like a foot-tapping shadow baby from a HBO and Columbia Records partnership. And, for something which celebrates the most popular nerd culture franchise of modern times, it sounds pretty damn cool.
Check out the For The Throne trailer below:
As reported by Hypebeast, For The Throne will feature artists such as A$AP Rocky, Joey BadA$$, SZA, Lil Peep, The Weeknd, Travis Scott and Ty Dolla $ign.
Released as of April 26, there will also be tracks from the likes of Ellie Goulding, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and James Arthur.
Although the track list remains unknown as of yet, it is understood the album will also be available in vinyl, complete with variant cover art inspired by the noble family crests we have come to recognise, love and fear.
What better way to reflect upon key scenes in between episodes than kicking back with music inspired by the drama which has kept us compelled for so many years?

Season 8 of Game of Thrones will air in the US on HBO on April 14, and Sky Atlantic early morning April 15 in the UK.
