Eminem’s recent comeback has cemented his ‘King of rap’ status for many, but not for Gucci Mane.

Gucci laughed as he was posed the question of whether or not Eminem should be considered the ‘King of rap’.

Speaking to Rickey Smiley, Gucci Mane slated Eminem as someone he, nor other rappers, ever listen to.

Gucci said on the radio show:

You got to come up with a better name.

I ain’t playing Eminem in my car. You playing him in yours?

You sliding around playing Eminem in the car with your old lady?

Stefan Grant agreed with Gucci, saying:

Gucci is me. I don’t know any regular black people who just ride around listening to Eminem in their free time. Or ever, really. #TooManyNapkins

There were however lots of people online who heavily disagreed with Gucci, citing Marshall Mathers’ over 220 million global record sales.

Eminem has also achieved 10 number-one albums and five number-one singles while Gucci got his first number-one single in 2016 with Black Beatles.

One Twitter user wrote:

Aye guwop @gucci1017 sell 100 million albums worldwide before you speak on the king @Eminem

Another quoted Gucci’s Mr. Davis album sales, and said:

So this is why you had to use Eminem’s name to finally be relevant huh? @gucci1017 Listen to Kamikaze for brain cells bitches

Earlier this year, Slim Shady’s tenth studio album, Kamikaze, officially earned platinum status.

Eminem announced the drop of his 10th album, just eight months after the release of his previous record, Revival.

Kamikaze indeed took the world by storm, and has even been considered Slim’s best album in a decade.

The album quickly worked its way to the top of the Official UK Albums Chart.

Kamikaze held on to the number one spot after its release to make music history.

The surprise album is Eminem’s ninth consecutive number one album, beating the previous record which he held alongside ABBA and Led Zeppelin, who have eight consecutive number one albums each.

The 8-Mile star was also voted the ‘Greatest Rapper of All Time’ in a Ranker poll.

The definitive list pulled together opinions from rap fans from across the globe, who each ranked individual rap musicians from the early eighties to present day.

One Eminem fan defended his hero, saying:

His body of music? While agreeing with Gucci mane who never sold more than 1 mill in a week

After calling him out like that, one fan is predicting some old school disses:

Gucci Mane & Eminem gotta give each other bars now since that interview. Just a lil sum. Those are the rules. Although I always thought Gucci originally dissed Slim Shady on that Mariah Carey “Obsessed” song…
