Things must be going pretty fucking well for English rapper and MC, Stormzy.

The 23-year-old has just been named on Forbes 2017 Cash Princes List along with Desiigner, Lil Yachty and Noname, reports Complex.

Born on July 26, 1993 in Croydon, South London, Stormzy – real name Michael Omari – only started his career in 2010 but has already managed to compile an estimated net worth of over £1.5 million.

He started MCing at just age 11, clashing with older MCs at his local youth club, but it was his Wicked Skengman series of freestyles over classic grime beats that first started gaining him serious attention.

His debut EP, Dreamers Disease was released independently in July 2014 before he went one step further, landing himself ‘Best Grime Act’ at the MOBO awards – picking up the same prize again one year later.

In order to be eligible for Forbes Cash Prince status, an artist has to meet a few qualifications.

“All artists on the list must be primarily classified as hip-hop/rap, must be under the age of 30, and must not have appeared on the Cash Princes or Cash Kings list previously,” Forbes explained.

But as well as making himself a pretty penny, Stormzy is also keen to use his new-found fame to help highlight the issues many young people face today.

Earlier this week in an interview with Channel 4, he opened up about his own battle with depression.

He said:

[Depression] was a world that was so alien to me. I just used to think, you get up and march on. So for me, I felt that I needed to address that, what I was going through.

He added that what convinced him to speak out about his own experiences was the hope that fans seeing his recovery would help with their own mental health issues.

So, well done to him on both his personal success and his eagerness to give something back to his fans who helped get him to where he is.
