You can always rely on the Grammy awards show to dish out its fair share of headline grabbing antics and last night’s was no exception.

As well as Adele taking it upon herself to physically snap her Best Album trophy in half to share with Beyoncé, Twenty One Pilots celebrated their scooping of the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in bizarre fashion.

Before taking to the stage, the pop duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun decided to strip off their trousers, proceeding to collect the award in their underpants and managing to look like two kids waking up after prom night in the process.

Fortunately though, Tyler was quick to explain the pair’s seemingly bizarre behaviour, revealing they were making good on a promise they’d made to themselves during their youth in Colombus, Ohio.

Apparently they and a group of friends were chilling out watching the Grammys when Tyler noticed that every single one of them was in their underwear.

He said:

So not only is this amazing, but I want everyone at home who’s watching to know that you can be next.

So watch out, okay, because anyone from anywhere can do anything. And this is that.

The pair actually beat a pretty impressive nominee line-up of The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s Closer, Lukas Graham’s 7 Years, Rihanna and Drake’s Work and Sia and Sean Paul’s Cheap Thrills to scoop the prestigious title.

So fair play to the guys for going through with their promise – although the cynic in me can’t help but think the extra publicity probably isn’t doing them any harm either.
