2006’s Tenacious D’s in The Pick of Destiny is a firm favourite among their fans, who loved the humour, music and impressive rock legend cameos.
Fans have waited twelve long years but have finally got themselves a sequel on the way, rocking its way into existence by October 2018 – which is pretty darn soon!
It seems quite a few of you are excited to say the least:

According to my AJC , Jack Black made the exciting revelation during Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Music Festival on May 6, where he announced:
I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it [the film], but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out.

Despite originally bombing quite hard at the box office – raking in just $14 million of the $20 million budget – In The Pick of Destiny has gained a solid cult following in the years since.
Exceeding $10 million through DVD sales, this slow burner is a must for anyone who enjoys the music of Tenacious D. Rock fans particularly enjoyed the cameos from music icons; including Dave Grohl as Satan, Meatloaf and Ronnie James Dio.
The IMDb synopsis for this original outing – which saw Black and bandmate Kyle Gass unearth a pick belonging to Satan – is as follows:
This is the story of a friendship that changes the course of rock history forever, of the fateful collision of minds between JB and KG that led to the creation of the precedent-shattering band Tenacious D, and of the two heroes’ quest to find the fabled Guitar Pick Of Destiny…

48-year-old Black has previously spoken about his desire to make a sequel to the slacker musical comedy, telling Kerrang!
We’ve been working on it for years.
It’s a post apocalyptic musical comedy that’s an animated series that no one wanted in Hollywood but we’re making it anyway
Check out more of the interview with the most passionate rocker in Hollywood below:
Tenacious D are currently working on a new ‘rock opera’ album entitled Post-Apocalypto, which many believe will accompany the movie, in a similar way to The Pick of Destiny soundtrack.
While appearing on Conan back in December 2017, Black revealed:
We’re working on a rock opera. It’s a post-apocalyptic musical comedy, and the idea is that you know, you’ve got Pink Floyd The Wall, and you’ve got Tommy [by] The Who, and those are the only true rock operas in existence.
You hear rock opera all the time. There’s only two rock operas. Ours is gonna go right there, somewhere in there, and all of the other ‘supposed rock operas’ can suck it! ‘Cause they suck.
Overwhelmed fans can barely contain their excitement at the prospect of a surreal new adventure with JB and KG.
One person declared:
It’s not the sequel we asked for, it’s the sequel we need.
One emotional fan admitted:
Tenacious D and the pick of destiny is coming out with a sequel. I’m gonna cry. [sic]
I hope the tenacious d sequel is just as good as the first
