Justin Bieber has gotten himself into shit over the song ‘Despacito’… again. This time, escaping the brunt of a bottle.
Poor guy can’t catch a break. What happened to the days of featuring in a song and not being publicly criticised for not knowing the lyrics? Would David Bowie have gotten bottled by Bing Crosby if he’d refused to sing Little Drummer Boy all those years ago? Not a chance.
Bieber’s back catalogue must now be at such a point that he is excused of this kind of ignorance. Apparently not.
The 23-year-old singer originally refused to sing the Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee song, on which he guest spotted, while performing in New York City last month, saying:
I don’t know the words, so I say ‘Dorito’.
Banter? Not to everyone. In fact some critics went as far as to say Justin Bieber was being racially insensitive by mocking the song title.
Fonsi came out and stuck up for Bieber, however, admitting that ‘the chorus is not easy to sing.’ Fans at the Summerburst Fest in Stockholm were less forgiving.
Watch as the young singer refuses to sing the song after an audience member requests it, only to dodge a hurled bottle by inches.
He says:
I can’t do ‘Despacito’. I don’t even know it.
Handling the subsequent bottling better than he might have done a few years ago, when he was kicking off with paparazzi and spitting at fans, Bieber said to the crowd: “Don’t throw things at me, please.”
