You’d think someone would have double-checked the spelling on a t-shirt for Justin Bieber’s new world tour, but apparently not.
The Biebs was forced to recall a batch of t-shirts to promote his new tour, ‘Purpose’, because they contained a very unfortunate spelling mistake.
According to the Huffington Post, the 22-year-old singer kicked of his tour earlier this month, off the back of his hugely successful ‘Purpose’ album.
And if your album is called Purpose, and your tour is also called Purpose, the one word you’d really want to spell correctly would be ‘purpose’.
But no one bothered to check this, it seems, as Bieber was flogging tees for just under £30 that contained a massively embarrassing typo.
The t-shirts were meant to contain a pertinent Bible quote – “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is God’s purpose that prevails” – but instead contained an irrelevant misspelt passage, as they fucked up the one word that relates the quote to the tour.
Apparently it’s ‘God’s purose that prevails.’
A representative for Bieber told TMZ the offending tees had now been recalled, and that Beliebers could return any already bought for an exchange.
But with all the extra publicity this has generated for the tour, you can’t help but think that maybe they did it on purose…
