Kanye West has reportedly been hospitalised ‘for his own health and safety’.
The 39-year-old was hospitalised in Los Angeles after police responded to a medical welfare call, according to reports. A source told People that West was ‘exhausted and currently dealing with sleep deprivation’.
TMZ has reported the rapper was taken to hospital for ‘psychiatric evaluation’, but neither Kanye West nor his representatives have made an official statement about the incident.
West’s hospitalisation comes after the ‘Yeezus’ star cancelled the remainder of his ‘Saint Pablo’ tour following a stage rant at a concert in Sacramento.
Yeezy controversially cut his set short after just 30 minutes following a lengthy tirade against Beyonce, claiming that her husband and West’s former friend Jay Z had the means to have him killed. He also caused controversy when he admitted that he ‘would have voted for Donald Trump’.
The now-cancelled Saint Pablo tour was scheduled for a further 21 dates before the end of 2016.
While rumours have been swirling about the state of West’s mental health, a source close to the 39-year-old denies that he’s having any sort of breakdown.
The source told People:
It’s nothing like that. He’s just exhausted. He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line. He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work — which is extremely important to him — and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out.
Get well soon, Yeezy.
