If you haven’t already heard, Lady Gaga’s body has been the very unnecessary topic of choice since the Super Bowl.
She pulled off one of the best halftime performances history, but apparently it’s not enough to be a globally recognised pop icon – she also has to have a six-pack while doing it.
Social media trolls were quick to make her body a trending topic, commenting on her so-called ‘pot belly’ and branding it a ‘distraction’.
if lady gaga is fat, i wanna be fat pic.twitter.com/TpxxlNeviu

I couldn't stop looking at the little flat tire of fat that Lady Gaga had hanging over her waistband and if you say otherwise, you're a liar

Tried to enjoy @ladygaga's performance, was distracted by the flab on her stomach swinging around #SuperBowl

Luckily, a few Twitter users with a brain opposed the topic and voiced their opinion on Gaga and her normal-person stomach:
BLOWN AWAY that I'm seeing tweets about the Super Bowl saying Lady Gaga has a fat belly, like seriously?!
Mainly women too. ?

The frat daddies at this super bowl watch party just said Lady Gaga had a belly and if she's got a belly then I'm concerned I'm obese. pic.twitter.com/9QZ3JQcdIx

Speak of @ladygaga for her brilliance & innovation – not her apparent "belly". *Wow, she is human after all!* ??

Up until a few hours ago, however, it was only Gaga fans that were sticking up for the singer’s completely-normal-and-shouldn’t-be-a-topic body.
As of earlier today, Lady Gaga also stepped up to take on the body-shamers.
Taking to Instagram Tuesday night, she addressed the negative commentary pretty damn suitably:
She wrote:
I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga.
Way to go, Gaga. You’ve got six Grammy’s, a Woman of the Year win, role model status and pop star brilliance.
