Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road has proved it really is unstoppable as it holds the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a 12th consecutive week.
It’s a catchy song and we can all agree Lil Nas X is a likeable guy so, you know, we’re happy for him. But what’s really getting people talking is the fact he’s prevented Taylor Swift by nabbing number one yet again.
Tay Swizzle’s latest single You Need To Calm Down came straight in at number two on the Hot 100, while her previous single Me! also debuted at number two, behind Old Town Road, which I can only imagine she’ll be thrilled about.
In fact, according to Chart Data, Old Town Road has successfully blocked six songs from reaching the top spot since it entered the chart in April.
That’s pretty impressive when you consider the track is 20-year-old Lil Nas X’s first proper single, having bought the beat for the song from a Dutch teenager for $30, before deciding to enlist the help of a former country star to jump on the country-rap hybrid.
Meanwhile, Drake’s Money In The Grave debuted at number seven, prompting him beat the Beatles in having the second-most top ten singles in the Hot 100, with his 35th top ten entry.
.@Drake earns his milestone 35th Hot 100 top 10 hit, passing @thebeatles as the artist with the second most top 10s in history.

We do love an underdog, and that could be in part why Lil Nas X continues to reign at the top spot beating some of the world’s biggest stars from Taylor Swift to Cardi B and Drake.
