McFly Confirm They’re Getting Back Together This Year

2019 appears to be the year for pop reunions as not only are the Spice Girls and Westlife (some of them anyway) getting back together, but McFly are reforming too.

While I was always more of a Busted fan growing up, when I saw McFly perform their debut single 5 Colours in Her Hair on CBBC, nine-year-old me couldn’t help but sing along with the catchy tune.

And 15 years later I am still singing ‘she’s just a loner with a sexy attitude’, as I am sure many other 20-somethings are. McFly are coming back with one pocket of their fanbase firmly in tact.

In an interview on the Sappenin Podcast, it was revealed the band are currently working on their sixth album, which is being recorded nine years after the release of their last studio album, Above The Noise.

Bassist Dougie Poynter admitted he was excited about the reunion saying:

McFly will at least start writing by the summer and I can’t wait. I love that band and I love the guys. It’s awesome.

Many fans are welcoming the news, having been unsure the group would ever get back together following their last tour more than two years ago.

Dougie added the initial plan was to reform with fellow McFly members Harry Judd, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones last year but the circumstances weren’t right.

He explained:

We decided to take some time off after we did McBusted because it was a two-year tour and there was naturally some other things everyone wanted to do.

It actually worked out really well because all the other guys had kids in that time, so they’ve all been home for their kids.

It almost happened last year but someone had a project or something that was coming up smack bang in the middle. And we just didn’t think there was any point.

But 2019 is going to be their year and so all together now, ‘Who the hell is she? That weirdo with five colours in her hair’.
