Apparently two members of the Spice Girls had a sexual encounter straight off the pages of the greatest female-led nineties fan fiction ever.
Amid the pop group’s six-year career in the nineties, from their formation in 1994 to their temporary split in 2000, two of the five became one, for one night of alleged experimentation.
This just in from Feels So Good singer and former Scary Spice herself, Melanie Brown – who also goes by Mel B in her solo music career, in case you missed it.
Mel B was chatting to the British journalist and professional antagonist Who Must Not Be Named on the show Life Stories to promote her new book Brutally Honest, when she said two of the band mates had a one-night sexual experience.
Brown said she shared the moment with Geri Halliwell, adding:
She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband [Formula One racing boss Christian Horner].
She continued:
But it’s a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it.
Hopefully when Geri gets asked that, which hopefully she will after this, she won’t deny it. Because it was just a fun thing.
While female homosexuality is often reduced to these terms by straight women – and that’s not necessarily a good thing to forward equality – it’s sort of every Spice Girls’ fan fiction dream come true.
Brown continued, per the Daily Mail:
Maybe with a lady that’s a friend. It just happens one time, you talk about it and it doesn’t really happen again. We were best friends. It just happened. Have you ever done that?
Mel B added the five pop singers had shared a bed before but not in a romantic way.
She claims they also all shared ‘a silly kiss’ with one another after she got her tongue pierced ‘because [she] wanted to know what it felt like’.
Mel B has previously spoken out about her sexuality, never choosing to pigeonhole herself and her expression with one label.
It’s an apt response from one fifth of the girl band which has come to symbolise female empowerment.
Discussing her sexuality, Mel B told radio host Howard Stern in 2010:
People call me lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual, but I know who’s in my bed and that’s it… I have a huge libido and a great sex life.
Mel B’s comments come as the band prepares for a UK-wide reunion tour without Posh Spice Victoria Beckham.
Mel B, Emma Bunton, Halliwell, and Melanie C will reunite for the June 2019 tour, supported by Jess Glynne, which will see the band perform in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
The four remaining members of the band, who will also play in Coventry, Sunderland, and Bristol, revealed the tour dates in a video on Twitter.
