As Little Mix continue to release tracks from their new album, a theme seems to be emerging.

After Shout Out To My Ex got tongues wagging and the rumour mill churning out its gossip-ridden reviews, the girl band’s new single seems to add fuel to the flame, firing more shots at Zayn Malik.

The 23-year-old singer, who has taken some time out of performing due to anxiety, is the ex of Little Mix‘s Perrie Edwards.

The lyrics of new song You Gotta Not suggests that Perrie Edwards needs a man:

A man who can act like a man, so help me now.

I don’t get paid to babysit no one.

I’m only looking for the one to love.

The signature look.. ?

The song, written by none other than Meghan Trainor, sees bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock sing:

Asking her for money (you gotta not).

You never keep your house clean (you gotta not).

Wearing dirty laundry (you gotta not).

Is that what you call flirting (you gotta not).

So many musicians understandably opt to remain tight-lipped in the press about breakups, choosing instead to express frustration through their music. I can only assume they’re inspired by Eamon and Frankee’s public post-breakup sing-off.

Both new single releases are taken straight out of the perfect PR playbook, following a trend for revenge songs in the music industry, normalised by Taylor Swift’s Trouble.

We await the rest of Glory Days with baited breath.
