Pete Davidson reportedly ‘refused’ to see Ariana Grande when she rushed to see him after he posted a worrying note to Instagram.
The 25-year-old comedian caused panic on Saturday (December 15) when he posted an alarming message on social media.
Taking to Instagram, he told his followers that he no longer wanted to ‘be on this earth,’ before he deleted all of his social media accounts.
The Saturday Night Live cast member wrote:
i really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. [sic] i’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. [sic]
all i’ve ever tried to do was help people. just remember i told you so. [sic]
Following this, fans reached out to Davidson – who was previously engaged to Grande – offering him messages of support. The No Tears Left To Cry singer then reached out to him also.
Ariana took to Twitter – in a post which has now been deleted– writing:
man i’m so sorry i told a dumb joke. i really didn’t mean any harm. all i want everyone to be healthy and happy. so desperately. please. my god. [sic]
Just minutes later, the 25-year-old singer then posted a message of support which suggested she was in the same building as Davidson, acknowledging although she might not be ‘who he needs’, she wanted him to know she was ‘there for him’.
In another now-deleted tweet, she wrote:
I’m downstairs and I’m not going anywhere if you need anyone or anything. I know u have everyone u need and that’s not me, but i’m here too. [sic]
As reported by TMZ though, Davidson ‘refused’ to see his ex-fiancée and instead alerted his security to stop Ariana from seeing him.
The publication reports that a source connected to the comedian and NBC told them that Davidson’s security had been instructed by him to hold Grande ‘at bay’ when she arrived at the building.
Reportedly, the Saturday Night Live comedian knew his ex-fiancée was on her way to see him because she had called his friends after he posted the worrying note, who then told him.
Ariana’s ‘dumb joke’ reference is thought to be linked to the argument rappers Kanye West and Drake were having at the time.
Earlier on Saturday morning (December 15), Kanye replied to a tweet Grande had posted a couple of days before, in response to a Twitter tirade he’d launched against Drake.
Grande had written:
Guys, I know there are grown men arguing online rn but Miley and I dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u. [sic]
To which Kanye replied:
I know Ariana said this to be cool and didn’t mean no harm but I don’t like even slightest level of slight commentary from someone I know loves and respects me.
All of this foolishness weighed on my mental health so @ArianaGrande you know I got love for you but until you’re ready to really make sure everyone’s ok don’t use me or this moment to promote a song.
Davidson then wrote an Instagram post defending Kanye’s actions, applauding him for speaking out for mental health.
He wrote:
Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health. I can’t explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this.
We need people like Kanye. No on should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I’m seriously disgusted.
In the comments section of his post, several of Grande’s fans accused him of ‘going after’ Grande and ‘attacking’ her with his remarks.
