Post Malone is stepping in to the acting world as he has just landed his first role in a Netflix movie alongside Mark Wahlberg.

The rapper is putting his microphone to one side to appear in front of the camera for Netflix’s movie Wonderland, a crime film which will also star Wahlberg, Black Panther breakout Winston Duke, Alan Arkin, Iliza Shlesinger, Bookem Woodbine, Hope Wilson and James DuMont.

The movie is described as a gritty crime drama and detective film and has been adapted from a book by crime reporter Ace Atkins.

Wahlberg is set to play Spenser, an ex-felon-turned-detective who goes undercover in Boston to crack a murder case which is wrapped up in a huge conspiracy.

Variety confirmed Malone’s involvement in the feature, but the rapper’s role in the movie is yet to be revealed. Will he be on the authoritative side of the investigation with Spenser, or wrapped up in the murder and conspiracy? We’ll have to wait and see.

Peter Berg is on board to direct the movie, making Wonderland the fifth movie on which Wahlberg and Berg have worked together. The pair’s other productions have included Lone Survivor, Patriots Day and Mile 22.

Though we don’t know much about Malone’s appearance in the film, we might be able to take a guess at what his character’s hair will look like.

The announcement of his move into the acting world comes just a couple of days after the rapper revealed a drastic change to his appearance.

Ever since his rise to fame in 2015, Malone has made his dreadlocks a staple part of his look. Now however, it seems fans will have to identify him in some other way, because the dreads are no more.

Don’t worry though, the barbed wire face tattoo will probably help us recognise him.

Sharing a picture of his new style on Twitter, Malone wrote:

had 2 big ass dreads. plz don’t stop listening to my music.

Fans were left desperate to find out why the rapper had got rid of his signature dreadlocks, with many begging for answers on social media.

One fan angrily responded:

Why did you cut your hair I’m so mad at you posty

Another person added:

WHAT DID YOU DO

While a third had to express their sadness at the loss through a GIF:

While Malone didn’t provide any reason for the drastic change, now we might be able to assume he chopped off the dreads in preparation for his upcoming Netflix role.

Maybe his character just isn’t the dread-wearing sort, and he really wanted to get into the mindset of the person he’s playing?

If this is the reason, the rapper must be really committed to smashing his first acting job! We can’t wait to see how it will turn out.

According to Elite Daily, Wonderland is currently filming, suggesting it will likely debut on the streaming service at some point in 2019.
