Barack Obama has a pretty solid shout for being the coolest U.S. president of all time – not that he has a lot of serious competition for that title, to be fair.
Still, if this latest news doesn’t convince people that he’s an absolute G, then nothing will.
Obama has definitely been making the most of his last months in the White House – from hosting a Fourth of July BBQ featuring performances by Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe, to celebrating his 55th birthday by partying with Jay Z and Beyoncé, he’s been a busy outgoing president, to say the least.
Now, according to Consequence of Sound, his next step is to host his very own music festival before he moves out for good.
The White House will be the venue for the one-day festival, titled South by South Lawn, on October 3.
The event is in partnership with South by Southwest (SXSW), where both President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama made keynote speeches earlier this year.
According to reports, the event will feature performances from ‘well-known and emerging artists who are using their music to inspire audiences,’ as well as panel discussions and student films.
There’s no word yet on who those artists will be, but everyone’s already speculating wildly that Chance the Rapper will be involved, because Malia Obama loves him, apparently.
If you fancy the chance to go to the event (and, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to party with the Obamas), entry is based on a nomination process – specifically, the White House is looking for individuals who have a positive impact on their community.
