Rebecca Black Went To Coachella And Everybody’s Saying The Same Thing

Remember Rebecca Black? The girl behind the 2011 viral banger ‘Friday’? Well she’s been to Coachella and everybody had the same thing to say.

The singer was thrust in to fame when she was just 14-years-old with that track – it’s been viewed on YouTube more than 119 million times. Yep, really.

Anyway, that was then and this is now, and Rebecca has been Instagramming her ‘fifth year in a row at Coachella’, and she’s a far cry away from her young teenage self.

…probably because it was nine years ago.

Here, remind yourself of ‘Friday’:

Rebecca, you’ll be glad to know, has been continuing to work on her music since her rise to fame seven years ago.

Plenty of people have been commenting on social media to say the 20-year-old looks more-or-less exactly the same.

One user, by the name of Rhett Booher said:

She literally looks exactly the same.

Others pointed out how much she looks like a certain British singer, with another commenting:

Gorgeous. She reminds me of Dua Lipa.

While another added:

Looks like a cross between Dua Lipa and Kylie Jenner in 2017. Her friend looks like Rihanna.

Another ‘famous’ shimmying around Coachella was Leonardo DiCaprio, who was sporting one of the worst disguises I’ve ever seen.

The actor was spotted around various areas of last weekend’s festival, including the Neon Carnival and Rihanna’s FentyxPuma after-party.

He was wearing a grey hoodie and some strange eyewear, but everybody could just tell it was him.

One of the festival highlights was the closing performance by headliner Beyoncé, leading people to call the whole thing ‘BeyChella’.

As well as putting on an amazing show, Bey reunited with her former Destiny’s Child band members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

One person who wasn’t at the festival – but still posted in appreciation of the Destiny’s Child performance – was model, and actor, Cara Delevigne.

She said on Instagram:

I still refuse to go to a festival that is owned by someone who is anti-LGBT and pro-gun. I am allowed to shame that man and the festival and show my appreciation of an artist at the same time.

Fair! Absolutely on the same page.

Billionaire owner of Coachella, Philip Anschutz, has been linked with far-right Christian evangelical groups, writes BBC.

The 78-year-old made his money through the ‘oil, road and telecom industries’, before forming Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) in 1999.

These accusations, which Anschutz denies, relate back to payments made to certain religious and political groups, which allegedly include supporting anti-gay laws, same-sex marriage opposition, and pro-gun support.

In response to Cara’s remarks, AEG released a statement saying it ‘wholeheartedly’ supports the LGBT community:

Some fans have questioned the direction Coachella has gone in recent years, with the involvement of corporate sponsors such as Adidas, American Express and HP.

Purists’ main gripe stems from the festival becoming more of a brand love-in these days in the guise as a music festival.
