Global superstar Rihanna has revealed she’s mourning the death of her cousin just hours after spending Christmas Day with him.

The Wild Thoughts singer posted a heartbreaking tribute to her 21-year-old cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, who she’d been with for the holidays.

According to Nation News, as reported by The Independent, Alleyne was gunned down when he was making his way back to his house in St. Michael, Barbados.

Hours after finding out her cousin was murdered Rihanna took to Instagram to post a touching tribute to him, along with a series of photos.

On the post she wrote:

RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms!

Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!

She ended the post with a hashtag urging people to end gun violence.

The singer, who has over 59 million followers on Instagram, was soon greeted with messages of condolences for her and her family.

One person wrote:

Condolences to you and your family! So sorry for your loss! Stay strong, so much love for u.

Another one of her followers added:

My condolences to you and your family and friends. RIP Tavon.

Will senseless violence ever end? No one should ever lose someone like this.

Reports from Nation News say Alleyne was walking through a track near his house around 7pm on Boxing Day when was approached by a man who shot him multiple times.

Recently Rihanna has been dealing with another family problem albeit not as serious – it was discovered her uncle was selling bootleg versions of her exclusive Fenty x Puma collection.

Leroy Fitzgerald Brathwaite was brought before the courts in Barbados this month after it was revealed he’d been selling knock-off copies of her Fenty x Puma t-shirts and slippers, report Nation News.

Ironically it was the Bajan beauty herself who made the report her uncle was selling the counterfeit goods in a Bridgestown store, which she discovered while on a trip home to Barbados.
