We all know Eminem is a lyrical genius and is regarded by many as being one of the best rappers of all-time.
However, it turns out Slim Shady was even cleverer than we originally thought, sneaking in a secret message into his iconic song My Name is.
First released in 1999, it featured on his debut album The Slim Shady LP and the song became an instant hit – even now it’s considered to be a bona fide classic.
Here’s a reminder of the smasher:
However, even the most hardcore Eminem fans were missing out on something while listening to the song – being completely oblivious to the cunning concealed message.
Thanks to the enlightening world of YouTube though, it’s revealed Eminem’s secret – the user ‘it doesn’t matter who we are, what matters is our plan’ played around with the track.
He discovered, when you play My Name Is backwards, it actually reveals a genius message.
Instead of playing:
My name is, my name is, my name is.
You can actually hear:
It’s Eminem, it’s Eminem, it’s Eminem, it’s slim.
See if you can hear it here:
It’s such a good idea and had the potential to go on for years without anyone noticing.
However, thanks to this YouTuber you’ll never be able to listen to the original in the same way again.
I wonder if there are any other secret messages in other Eminem songs?
Eminem a.k.a Marshall Mathers has had a busy 2017 with the release of his latest album Revival, which has seen him use his lyrics to attack US President Donald Trump.
Having made it very clear he isn’t a fan of ‘The Donald’ during his freestyle rap at the BET Hip-Hop awards earlier this year, Eminem has labelled Trump an ‘Aryan’ and ‘Adolf Hitler’ who’ll be kicked out of office before long.
Released today, Revival features the song Like Home, featuring Alicia Keys, which takes on Trump as Eminem calls for Americans to come together and have their revenge ‘for Charlottesville and for Heather (Heyer)’.
You can listen to the track on Spotify here:
Slamming the president, Eminem raps:
Someone get this Aryan a sheet. Time to bury him, so tell him to prepare to get impeached.
Everybody on your feet, this is where terrorism and heroism meets, square off in the streets.
This chump barely even sleeps.
All he does is watch FOX News like a parrot and repeats, while he looks like a canary with a beak.
Why you think banned transgenders from the military with a tweet?
He’s tryin’ to divide us, those sh*t’s like a cult.
But like Johnny, he’ll only unite us.
Harsh words from the famous rapper, although the majority would say probably that Trump deserves it.
Things only get worse for Trump as Eminem stepped into the second verse:
Didn’t wanna piss your base off, did ya? Can’t denounce the Klan, ’cause they play golf with ya.
You stay on Twitter, way to get your hate off, Nazi, I do not see a way y’all differ.
And all you got are race cards. Better get the swastika with your name carved in it, should be your trademark, ’cause hate’s all you played off and you just lick the plate off.
So I guess it pays to feed off of chaos. So basically, you Adolf Hitler, but you ain’t ruining our country, punk.
You won’t take our pride from us, you won’t define us cause like a dictionary, things are looking up.
So much, got a sprained neck, know we would rise up, against this train wreck and take a stand even if it mean sittin’ when they raise the flag.
This ain’t the Star Spangled Banner.
If you fancy some more political commentary in the form of rap, Revival is out now.
