Snoop Dogg has proven just how generous he is ahead of Thanksgiving, stepping up to help out his local community by handing out 1,500 free turkeys to families in Inglewood, Los Angeles.

Mayor James Butts told KNBC-TV that the rapper – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. – joined him for a massive giveaway of the birds at an even at indoor arena The Forum on Thursday, ahead of Thanksgiving on November 26, and took some photos with his adoring fans for good measure.

Snoop asked residents last year what he could do to help out residents and show them some real gangsta love in his local community of Ingelwood, where his production crew is based.

Butts says the rapper then suggested helping out with the turkey giveaway, and it’s now become something of a yearly tradition, with Snoop helping out with the turkey event two years on the trot.

The hip-hop superstar also helped to drop turkeys like they’re hot last year – passing out 800 of the birds to local people in 2014.

This year, however, Snoop and the team nearly doubled the number of turkeys handed out. So, now we know what families in Inglewood are thankful for this year!
