Rapper Snoop Dogg has shown his support and offered some advice to actor and comedian Kevin Hart following his recent controversy.

Earlier this week Hart was announced as the host of the upcoming 91st Academy Awards but stood down after homophobic and insensitive tweets he posted some years ago resurfaced.

These comments included ‘if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will’ and a joke about his son playing with a dollhouse being ‘gay’.

As Hart deals with the fallout from the controversy which has seen him receive a significant backlash, he does appear to have one person still in his corner – Snoop Dogg.

Taking to Instagram yesterday (November 7), in typical Snoop style the rapper shared a video addressed to Hart while smoking a joint of course.

Offering some words of advice to Hart, Snoop said:

Don’t trip, that ain’t our kind of sh*t anyways. Oscars? Yeah right, come do the BET Awards, cuz. Or Soul Train.. You a comedian, crackin’ jokes… Kevin Hart, smoke a blunt. Tell the Academy to suck a dick or die trying. F*ck ’em. We still love you, n—a.

Clearly not a fan of award bodies, Snoop added ‘f*ck the Grammys too’.

Over the past couple of days Hart has addressed the controversial tweets in a number of Instagram videos and posts.

While at first he deflected from the controversy, he later apologised before announcing he was stepping down from the Oscars gig.

Hart wrote on Twitter:

I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.

In a follow-up tweet he added:

I’m sorry that I hurt people… I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love and appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.

With the Oscars not being too far away now, the Academy has begun their hunt to find another host to take on one of Hollywood’s most prestigious jobs.

Some fans are calling on Hugh Jackman to take on the task, and with good reason – he already has one show under his belt, hosting the 81st awards.

Kicking off the ceremony with an all-singing, all-dancing opening number, Jackman’s energy never died down during the notoriously lengthy event.

During the musical themed night Jackman pulled Anne Hathaway out of the audience on to the stage for a duet before he sang ‘Musicals Are Back’ with Queen Bey herself, Beyonce.

It is no wonder then people are calling for his return to hosting duties as Jackman really does have it all!

The nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards will be announced on January 22 with the televised ceremony taking place on February 24.
