However, in November this year, it was found Tekashi69 – real name Daniel Hernandez – had breached the conditions of his probation, and was arrested on racketeering charges by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Racketeering is the involvement in fraudulent and dishonest business dealing. The arrest was part of a joint investigation between Homeland Security Investigations and the New York City Police Department.

The rapper pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, due to his probation terms, he was denied bail and will therefore remain behind bars until the date of his trial, which was set for September 4, 2019.

The indictment explains he’s facing six counts, including conspiring to commit crimes which include armed robbery, drug dealing, and shootings.

The most serious of the charges is the discharging of a firearm while committing a crime, which is punishable with a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison, and could potentially carry a life sentence for the BEBE singer.
