Tekashi 6ix9ine has reportedly been put in general population with ‘extremely dangerous’ inmates at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
The 22-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was indicted on six federal charges on Monday (November 19), at Manhattan Federal Court, including armed robbery and murder conspiracy.
This is the result of a five-year federal investigation into the rapper’s involvement with New York gang Nine Trey Bloods – also known as TreyWay.
Rather than being placed in a segregated part of the prison, Hernandez has been placed in general population, despite his celebrity status.
The latest news surrounding Tekashi 6ix9nine has been reported by TMZ, who spoke with his lawyer, Lance Lazzaro.
According to the US Justice Department, the Metropolitan Detention Center is known to have inmates who are ‘extremely dangerous, violent, or escape-prone.’
However, Lazzaro reportedly believes Hernandez ‘will be fine’.
Prosecutors stated Monday (November 19) just how much of a target Tekashi had been prior to his arrest at the weekend.
One prosecutor told a judge ex-members of Tekashi’s crew ‘wanted to super violate him’ after his appearance on the podcast Breakfast Club, where he accused his inner circle of turning on him.
Prosecutor Michael Longyear, said ‘super violate’ meant to inflict harm on Tekashi, including the possibility of shooting him.
He said they took Tekashi in after learning he was planning a trip to a Connecticut casino, and feared an attempt on his life would put innocent people in jeopardy.
According to TMZ, Tekashi69, had recently fired his manager and two other former associates, who are also in federal custody after getting arrested for racketeering charges.
Law enforcement sources are said to have told the publication 6ix9ine was arrested on Sunday night (November 18), by Agents for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in New York City.
The ATF agents are also have said to have hauled in his ex-manager, Shotti, at the same time. Tekashi had recently fired Shottie and most of his management team at the start of this month.
One of the other suspects arrested wass Faheem Walter, otherwise known as Crippy – who got shot a few weeks ago during the altercation with Tekashi’s record label head.
All four men are said to be facing racketeering and firearms charges in a joint effort from the ATF, New York Police Department and Homeland Security.
Tekashi pleaded guilty to an incident involving a ‘sexual performance’ with a 13-year-old girl and is currently serving a four-year-probation sentence following legal problems which followed the case.
Now, experts believe the racketeering charges could mean a lengthy jail spell for the star, who’s also facing charges of drug dealing and involvement in an armed robbery.
He’s also said to be facing a conspiracy to commit murder charge, according to the BBC.
His debut album is expected to drop later this week, which features both Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.
