Legendary singer David Bowie has died aged 69.
His death was confirmed by a rep on his website, detailing that Bowie had been battling cancer for a year and a half.
The website said:
David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.
David’s son, Duncan Jones confirmed the sudden news on Twitter, sharing his sadness of his father’s death.

Bowie had a career spanning over four decades and is considered a legend of British music industry. Described as the ‘Picasso of pop’, David was a musical chameleon with hits such as Let’s Dance, Life On Mars? and Starman, his timeless hits will live on.
As well as being a shining star among the music industry, he was as respected as an actor as he was a musician.
He celebrated his 69th birthday just last Friday with the release of his latest album, Black Star.
David is survived by wife Iman, son Duncan and daughter Alexandria ‘Lexi’ Zahra Jones.
His son confirmed the news and a statement was issued on his social media accounts.
Tributes have been pouring in from across the world from music stars, actors and even the PM.
