The Soundtrack For ‘Trainspotting 2’ Is Absolutely Amazing

Few films, books or songs are able to capture entire generations – however the ones that do are sheer masterpieces.

Stand By Me, Dazed & Confused, This Is England, La Haine – to name but a few. But for adolescents in the 90s it was Trainspotting that did the business.

As I’m sure you all know, Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting, based on the Irvine Welsh novel of the same name, tells the story of Mark Renton and his dark fight to stay clean and away from heroin, reports NME.

The film was labelled a cult classic from the get-go and despite every shot in the movie capturing the grim reality of Edinburgh’s dark side being utterly stunning, the impeccable soundtrack also plays a huge role in making sure the film is just as flawless now as it was back in 1996.

From the second Trainspotting begins we are bombarded with Iggy Pop’s Lust For Life as Renton sprints away from police down a busy Edinburgh street.

As the film progresses, our ears are met with classics from Underworld, Lou Reed, Blur, Pulp, Brian Eno, Primal Scream and Sleeper.

In just a matter of weeks the highly anticipated sequel to Trainspotting, T2, is set to be released and you’ll be pleased to know the soundtrack for that is an absolute fucking smasher.
