Former One Direction singer and professional pouter Zayn Malik has revealed the out of this world reason behind why he quit the popular boy band.
It wasn’t musical differences that forced Zayn out of the famous five piece, instead it was a visit from an extra-terrestrial in a dream that convinced him to go solo, The Sun reports.
These visitors clearly had his best interests at heart though as Zayn has enjoyed massive success since leaving 1D with both his debut single and album, Mind of Mine, going all the way to number one.
The singer’s decision to leave 1D stunned ‘Directioners’ the world over and revealed that the group was far from the cohesive band that the ‘Dark Lord of Music’ Simon Cowell made them out to be.
Zayn also mentioned he was disappointed that the remaining 1D members, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, didn’t reach out to him when he left, although he did admit that he’d spoken to Liam briefly when the group won a Brit award.
Interestingly, Zayn is far from the first pop-star to be visited by aliens – back in 2008 Millennium singer Robbie Williams confessed to being visited by little green men.
Maybe these aliens are just super keen autograph hunters?

Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
