Usher has showed off a few different hairstyles in the past few months, from intricate shaved designs to braids, but now he’s cleared some of his hair out of the way in order to show off a massive new head tattoo.
The 40-year-old’s new ink comes in the form of a detailed geometric shape which begins at the top of his spine and comes to an end level with the top of his ears.
It’s quite a big surface area to be in charge of – I’m sure the pressure would have been on for the tattoo artist!
A picture of the impressive piece was shared on Instagram by artist Dillon Forte, owner of Sri Yantra tattoo studio in California.
He gave some background to the tattoo, writing:
I had the pleasure of tattooing the legend @usher @sriyantratattoo this piece was inspired by transformation, Sacred geometry and an ancient Berber talisman to mark the cardinal points in the sky and allow travelers to find their way across vast distances.
I’ve listened to @usher since I was about 11 years old so definitely an honor
Interestingly, Dillon’s post includes a photo of Usher holding a stencil of what appears to be the design over his wrist. Perhaps he was considering a more low-key arm tattoo before deciding to go all in with the head piece?
The tattoo certainly looks very cool but I suppose the singer can always grow his hair out if he changes his mind about it!
