BBC/One LoveAfter Usher failed to make an appearance at the One Love concert on Sunday night, fans were left wondering what the hell had happened to him.
Usher lovers across the globe were left confused and disappointed, after waiting for the artist to perform, but to no avail, as he failed to show up at last night’s charity concert in aid of the Manchester attack victims.
This isn’t actually a case of him simply getting the date wrong, or not bothering to show up – he actually had two very good reasons for his no-show, which he explained on Instagram.
The first was that his son was having his first day at a camp for kids with diabetes and – understandably – he wanted to be there for him.
He wrote:
This was an important day for him and for myself as a proud father.
Stay strong UK.
The second appeared to be a slight break-down in communication, as the celebrity gossip site TMZ explained, Usher wasn’t actually meant to perform at all.
Instead, they reported it was a confusing announcement from a UK publicist, claiming Usher and David Beckham would be ‘making appearances’, yet Usher was nowhere to be seen on the night.
Somewhere along the line, this must have been misinterpreted, leaving thousands of people believing he was due to perform and wondering why he wasn’t on stage.
David Beckham however, did appear in a pre-recorded message, played out to the crowd of 50,000 gathered at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground, to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Manchester arena bombing.

Perhaps the publicist had gotten mixed up in the excitement of the announcement, which saw Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Justin Bieber and Liam Gallagher play in honour of the victims.
It wasn’t like they’d got it completely off the mark though, as Usher did record a message, but it was one which was posted from his personal account and not aired during the show.
You’d think they’d maybe check before releasing the all-important line-up and it would be triple-confirmed before being revealed, but still, things change and it certainly doesn’t deflect from the outstanding success of the fundraiser.
It was the first time Ariana Grande – who organised the fundraiser – had performed since the suicide bomb attack on Manchester arena, at the end of her concert on May 22nd.
Sadly, 22 people lost their lives in the blast and 100 people were injured – many of them severely.
The concert raised more than £2million for the families of the victims who were killed in the attack and was a huge show of love and unity from the artists, people attending and the city of Manchester.
