Forget every viral video you’ve ever seen – Kendrick Lamar surprising a bunch of teens at a rap workshop in Manchester is probably the best one you’ll ever watch.
The footage shows the rapper watching the teens showcase their skills, giving encouragement, and jumping on the mic to freestyle himself – which quickly inspires an impromptu cypher.
And while going up against one of the most respected rappers of our time might seem like an intimidating prospect, the students seem to hold their own, even poking some lighthearted fun at Lamar.
And Lamar pokes back – about halfway through his visit he grabs the mic out of one of the older (and admittedly shorter) students and spits, ‘Never met an MC that’s fuckin’ shorter than me.’ Poor guy.
The workshop was set up by Reebok Classic and Brighter Sounds and is meant for young musicians in the city. Best of all, the students had no idea Kendrick Lamar would be stopping by.
