Yesterday, the UK capital got its own musical tribute as a violinist played two mournful songs for the thousands of people gathered at Trafalgar Square for the central London vigil, in memory of the victims of the shootings and bombings across Paris, which left at least 127 people dead.

The young man, believed to be musician Bar Markovich, walked into the centre of the crowd, took out his violin and played two pieces of music which visibly moved all of those gathered at the vigil.

The incredible video of the moment was shared on social media by Zoe Scholes, who added how the man silenced the thousands of people gathered at the memorial service just with his violin.

Soon, mourners had taken out their mobile phones, switched on the flashlights and held them aloft, which made for a powerful scene.

After playing the two songs, the man packed up his violin, shouted “Vive la France” and disappeared back into the crowd. What a beautiful moment.
