A YouTuber has been ambushed by an alleged attacker live on a stream of the hip-hop culture podcast No Jumper.
Adam22 – real name Adam John Grandmaison – was chatting the good chat on Sunday (March 17), on his podcast when an unidentified intruder pulled a firearm on the former BMX rider.
Amazingly, Grandmaison was able to wrestle himself away from gunpoint, as seen in footage which has since been re-shared online:
Grandmaison, who started the popular brand No Jumper and became an influential hip-hop tastemaker, appeared to think the intruder was a prank or hoax.
He can be seen initially laughing as the armed male – who’s now reportedly been arrested – enter the room where the podcast was being recorded.
After an altercation with the No Jumper bouncers, witnesses – including the infamous host of the YouTube gossip show DramaAlert, Daniel Keem – claim the intruder was ‘knocked out’ and taken into police custody by Los Angeles authorities.
The YouTuber community jury is still out, with opinion divided between those worried for Grandmasion’s safety and those who think the alleged altercation was a set-up.
Meanwhile, Grandmaison has released a series of tweets about the incident, true to his dry but jovial style of delivery.
Citing his discussion around fellow YouTuber, Shane Dawson, the 35-year-old California resident has managed to joke about the incident.
He said he intended to carry on the stream that day, but later thought better of it, writing:
Actually I’ll be back tomorrow I gotta go chill don’t worry all the donations will get played.
One minute you’re tweeting jokes about fucking cats and the next minute you got a gun to your head.
If I got shot tonight my dying words would have been something about how Shane Dawson didn’t jizz on a cat.
The No Jumper podcast – or the self-titled Best Podcast In The World – has launched the careers of a number of the new Soundcloud elite, such as XXXTentacion and Tekashi 69.
The team have interviewed the likes of Lil Yachty, Smokepurpp, Ugly God, Suicideboys, and Action Bronson.
Grandmaison’s interview with XXXTentacion in April 2016 was the first time the deceased rapper had spoken publicly about his music, and received over nine million views at time of writing.
While maintaining widespread respect among the community, Grandmasion – who’s in a relationship with fellow YouTuber Lena Nersesian (otherwise known as Lena The Plug) – recently had to take to Twitter to deny two anonymous allegations of sexual assault.
Authorities are yet to make a statement on the alleged incident.
