A man has been arrested after taking his pregnant 12-year-old ‘wife’ to hospital.
The incident took place in the Xuzhou region of China, where the girl is reported to have turned up with the 40-year-old man and a woman who claimed to be the girl’s mother-in-law, reports The Sun.
The man is reported to have tried to pass off the girl as his 20-year-old wife although a member of hospital staff is quoted as saying: “It’s obvious she is just a child.”
Disturbing photos show the girl’s huge baby bump and stretch marks.
WikimediaShe is reported to be three months pregnant and was at the hospital seeking a routine test to confirm her baby was healthy.
The man is quoted as saying:
I took her here to be examined – just do your job. Stop asking so many questions.

Police were called to the hospital and found the girl didn’t have any form of identification.
They say she is not from China and that she is likely to be from an as yet unknown southeast Asian country with investigators suspecting she was either abducted or bought as a foreign bride.
Police are continuing their investigation.
