A transgender man has given birth to a healthy baby boy after thinking he’d missed his chance at having a biological child of his own.

Trystan Reese, from Portland in Oregon, was born female but he started taking hormones almost 10 years ago. He stopped taking hormones when he fell pregnant and has now given birth to baby Leo.

Last time he got pregnant, Trystan suffered a miscarriage and believed he had missed his chance to have a biological child, writes the Independent.

A pregnant dad, 9 months, 1 baby and a very happy family!

Leo is the first biological child for Trystan and his husband, Biff Chaplow, who have two adopted children in the family already.

Trystan told Fox News:

I would say it’s unique. I understand that people are not used to two men having a biological child.

No baby yet (we will let you know! we promise!), but here's a pic from a few weeks ago. Biff thought the belly was big then…

Biff added:

The moment he was born was just like a pure moment of bliss, like the happiest moment of my life. To see the very beginning of Leo, of his life, was just like amazing.

WE ARE HEADING HOME!!! Leo has received a clean bill of health (and so has Trystan) so we are happily heading back home to settle into our new life with our newest little addition. 😍😍😍

Trystan and Biff have documented their journey online, and said they have been supported by their friends and family – but have received some criticism online.

Congratulations to the happy family.
