Andy Murray/FacebookA seven-year-old boy who wanted to raise money to pay for flowers at his grandma’s funeral set up his own car wash to do so.
Little Ashton Murray decided he wanted to buy a bouquet of flowers in memory of his grandma Brenda Husband, who died earlier this month aged 61.
He told his mum and dad on Thursday morning (April 18) he wanted to set up a ‘truck wash,’ and soon set about setting things up and making a handmade sign to attract customers.
The seven-year-old had help from his parents, Andy, 34, and Toni, 28, who helped him set up his car washing services next to their Newbottle home, near Sunderland, on Philadelphia Lane.
Ashton held a handmade sign offering car washes for just £2, with the message ‘I’m seven’ written on it to encourage people to take up his services.
The young boy’s dad, Andy, posted about his venture to Facebook, advertising the car wash for sale and thanking people in advance for coming along.

People online soon spotted the advert which Ashton suggested his dad post on Facebook, and have since applauded him for his thoughtful and hardworking ways.
Andy, who works for Nissan, and Toni, a nursery nurse, say they are proud of the effort Ashton put it – alongside his little brother Grayson, five, and his cousin Alfie, eight, who lent a helping hand.
As per the Sunderland Echo, Andy said:
He said he decided he wanted to do a truck wash, in his own words, so he could raise the money for some flowers for his nanna’s funeral.
We’ve since persuaded him to change his mind and that Nanna wouldn’t want him to waste it on flowers and that she would want to see him spend it on something he wanted. We’ve already got flowers all sorted out, but he wanted to do something on his own.
We’ve been doing it for two days now and he’s only seven, so it’s great for someone that age to come up with something like this and do something for his own money.
We are definitely very proud of him.
Ashton made a massive £100 from the car wash, with the number of cars and scooters taking him up on his offer currently standing at double figures.
His parents persuaded the seven-year-old to keep the money and save it up for something Brenda would have loved to see him enjoy, rather than spend it on flowers.
A funeral for Brenda, who also lived in Newbottle, will be held on Tuesday (April 23).
