A 25ft Statue Of Jeff Goldblum In Jurassic Park Appears In London

By :

Simply watching Jurassic Park on its 25th anniversary isn’t enough to celebrate – a 25ft statue of Jeff Goldblum is clearly much more fitting for the occasion.

London just gained one more major landmark, as a giant statue of Jeff Goldblum appeared in front of Tower Bridge to celebrate the anniversary of Jurassic Park – with one foot of statue for every year the movie has been out.

Tower Bridge has suddenly got some serious tourist pull with this new addition.

The statue was commissioned by NowTV, and I’ve never been prouder of my broadband provider. The statue shows Goldblum as his Jurassic Park character, Dr Ian Malcolm, in one of his most famous poses – lying on his side with his shirt open.

Very ‘paint me like one of your french girls’.

The creators have revealed the statue weighs a staggering 150kg – which to make the statue of the American icon more relatable to British fans is apparently the same as 48,000 tea bags.

The statue has been dubbed #JurassicJeff.

NowTV teased their revelation on Twitter earlier this morning, tweeting a picture of the then-empty ground near Tower Bridge and writing ‘something magical is about to happen’.

Only an hour or so later, the statue was erected, and #JurassicJeff became part of the London landscape.

That pug doesn’t know what’s going on. He probably just wants to pee on giant Jeff.

25 years after the release of the original Jurassic Park, Goldblum made a brief return in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and now his character is being celebrated in unbeatable scale and style.

Fans are welcome to get up close to the huge statue, and take pictures with their favourite shirtless doctor.

Goldblum shed some light about his character’s choice of position and clothing in that well-known scene.

He said:

It’s supposed to be Costa Rica, right? So things are hot and I’m sure I’m in some sort of fever. So all the logic is that we gotta get some of these wet clothes off immediately.

Now we have to look at pictures of it, and paintings of it.

And 25-foot statues of it. The meme has taken on a physical form.

I’m not sure exactly how long the statue will be sticking around, but Southwalk Council implied it might not be more than 24 hours, tweeting ‘#JurassicJeff has taken up residence for the day @TowerBridge’.

Surely the 150kg shirtless wonder deserves more that one day in the limelight? Maybe he’ll tour the country after his appearance at Tower Bridge, and the saucy statue will suddenly appear next to you on the motorway.

Hopefully the statue won’t be dismantled, but even if it is I’m sure this jurassic occasion will live on for years to come. Life finds a way.

Fans have been having their moment with giant Jeff, with some even adopting his classic pose for the photo.

Other fans have been tweeting their appreciation to NowTV for their masterpiece.
