If you use Tinder to meet people, new research has revealed you could be maximising your efforts by choosing what time you log in.

According to data from Nielsen – usually associated with TV ratings –  the best time to use Tinder is at 9pm.

Nielsen tracked data from about 9,000 smartphones and found that 9pm is when most people use the app, reports the Huffington Post. The company also tracked OkCupid and found that it’s hottest at the same time.

You might be surprised – especially if you use the apps for late-night hookups – that usage plummets after 10pm.

Don’t worry if you like an early night though, there are other times of the day when you’re more likely to find your match. The data also revealed that OkCupid sees bigger spikes in traffic between 8am and 10am than during the afternoon, early evening and late at night.

In a statement Nielsen said:

When we look at unique audience, we see that a larger percentage of all OKC users sign in both in the morning and night.

On Tinder, the user’s likelihood to check in between noon and midnight is mostly flat at about 40 percent.

So, if you look at the first graph, a similar percentage of people – about 40 percent of unique users – use Tinder at various times between noon and midnight.

But if you want to be on with the most people possible, 9pm is the peak moment according to Nielsen’s data, with 51.64 per cent of the audience.

Strangely, 4pm seems to be the second busiest time of the day with 50.61 per cent. Should you not be doing some work guys?!
