From spitting bars in the streets of Harlem, New York and being discovered on Tumblr (RIP Yams) to becoming a modern day icon and fashionista for a new generation of hip-hop listeners, A$AP Rocky has come a long way.

Now the young Harlemite has been confirmed as one of the main headliners for this year’s Parklife festival which takes place in Heaton Park, Manchester. He will be joined by fellow headliners Annie Mac, Liam Gallagher, The XX, Skepta, N.E.R.D., Giggs and J Hus.

As one of the premier festivals in the UK, Parklife usually pulls out all the stops in terms of aesthetics – as well as the music – and this year is no exception.

This year the set designers will be going with a downtown Tokyo theme. Unveiling their new stage (The Valley) it takes inspiration from the eclectic cityscapes and neon lights of Japan’s capital city, with a particular focus on the world famous Shinjuku ward.

Other acts expected to grace the Parklife stage include Manny’s very own Bugzy Malone, Lorde, Vince Staples, Jessie Ware, Dave and the legendary Carl Cox.
