Metropolitan PoliceThe man wanted by police in connection with an acid attack on two cousins in London has handed himself in.
John Tomlin was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, after walking into an east London police station on Sunday and remains in custody, the Metropolitan Police said.
Cousins Resham Khan and Jameel Muhktar, 37, suffered life-changing injuries in the attack which took place on 21st June.
They had been celebrating Resha’s 21st birthday before the attack.
Police said Resham, a student at Manchester Metropolitan University, and Jameel had stopped at traffic lights when a man approached them and threw the ‘toxic substance’ through the window at the 21-year-old, reports the BBC.
The attacker then threw more of the acid at Jameel before fleeing.
In the days after the attack, Resham said:
I’m devastated. I keep wondering if my life will ever be the same.
Resham has also been regularly posting updates on Twitter, including details about her recovery as well as posts pleading for the attacker to be caught.. which of course, he now has.
I told the psychiatrist a bit about my life & she responded by calling me strong & tough. Apparently I'm dealing with things extremely well.
