Liz Dawn, the Coronation Street actress who played Vera Duckworth in the soap for more than 30 years, has died aged 77.
She was one of the show’s iconic characters, known for her constant bickering with onscreen husband Jack Duckworth, played by Bill Tarmey, who died in 2012.
Liz recently had an operation after becoming unwell due to her long term battle with emphysema.

The actress, whose real name is Sylvia Butterfield MBE, was born on November 8 1939 and she joined the cast of Corrie in 1974.
Her family said they were ‘devastated and heartbroken’ after the death of the ‘incredible’ 77-year-old, writes the BBC.
They said:
She has been the love, light and inspiration in our lives and we are bereft at her passing.
According to a statement from ITV, Dawn died at home, surrounded by her family, on Monday night.
She is survived by husband Donald Ibberston and four children.
Tributes from her many fans have been paid online:
