A bomb blast at Istanbul Ataturk Airport has killed at least ten people.

As reported by the BBC, the attack also included gunfire with at least another 20 people wounded.

Early reports suggest at least one suicide bomber armed with a Kalashnikov detonated an explosive, while reports in Turkey suggest two terrorists may have been present.

Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said:

Ten people have been killed according to a preliminary toll.

According to the information I was given, a terrorist at the international terminal entrance first opened fire with a Kalashnikov and then blew himself up.

Recent bomb attacks in Turkey have been credited to both Daesh (the so-called Islamic State) and Kurdish separatists, and it is not currently known who is behind this latest attack.

Last year, Ataturk overtook Frankfurt to become the third busiest in Europe, after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

Our thoughts go out to the friends and families of the victims and those wounded.

More to follow.
