Amateur Boxer In Critical Condition After Being Knocked Out In Charity Bout

A 28-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was brutally knocked out during a charity boxing match in Sydney, Australia.

Witnesses said Davey Browne began to have difficulty breathing and suffered a seizure when he was knocked unconscious in the final round of the bout at Ingleburn RSL around midnight.

The father-of-two was rushed to Liverpool Hospital and is believed to be in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.

According to reports in the Sydney Morning Herald, Browne was winning the fight before opponent Carlo Magali of the Philippines knocked him out to win the International Boxing Federation regional title.

Browne made a return to boxing in 2013 after marrying and becoming a father, and he was preparing for a potential world title bout next year.

Boxing promoter Brian Amatruda said:

Hopefully Davey can pull through. He’s a fighter and let’s hope he can get through the biggest fight of his life.
